Every teen wants to look fabulous - including having a thin, sexy and healthy body. It is an unfortunate statement on what are children are learning is important in life, but unfortunately it is a reality. Girls tend not to spend as much time working out - they generally prefer to diet to drop the weight (and belly fat). Here are some general pointers to help teenagers get started in their body fat reduction routine: 1) Always eat a healthy breakfast. Studies show that a key to maintaining a healthy body weight includes eating the most important meal of the day - breakfast. Opt for items that are in high protein. Protein tends to keep you filled up for longer - helping you to avoid the mid-morning snack binging. 2) Start working out. For everyone, this could mean different things. Guys tend to like to spend time in the gym with free weights. Guys just need to make sure that their exercises are targeted to their problem areas - particularly the stomach. Other exercises that are good (though not as effective) involve walking and biking (and are activities that you can do from home for those busy teenagers out there). It is also a good idea to join a team sport at school (although choose your sport wisely, swimming is a better choice than badmitten). 3) Yes your mother is right - get 8 hours of sleep a night! This will give your young body a chance to recharge.
