How to Take Proper Care of Your Eye Health

The human eye functions like a photo-sensor which gives us the ability to see and perceive the world around. The organ is put to optimum use for depth perception and to facilitate better movement throughout an entire lifetime. The eyes also help us interpret colors, shapes and dimensions by processing the light emitted by the surrounding objects.

As goes the saying, prevention is better than cure, likewise, eye care is superior to eye cure. So, what can you do to prevent vision problems before they get a chance to develop? Well, getting plenty of vitamins, especially vitamin A is absolutely essential. A decent supply of minerals is also beneficial. Eye exercises and proper eye care can considerably slow down natural degenerative processes, like macular degeneration, as we grow older. Correct eye exercises and good nutrition can adequately reduce the effects of injury, accident, disease and vision loss due to excessive strain.

Thus, there seems to be a direct link between vitamins and minerals in diet and health of you vision. Complete knowledge of the exercises and tips are important. Remember, children have added burden of catching new words and also learn how to scan text and other reading skills. Some of the easy tips to reduce eye strains are discussed below:

? Make sure that there is plenty of light to read.

? Experiment with colored text on cream-colored background. There are several evidences that prove a white background against black text is too glaring and hazardous for children, especially for those with dyslexia.

? Proper cleaning and adequate hydration of the skin surrounding the eyes must also be taken as they are extremely sensitive.

Taking a few preventive measures can solve a multitude of eye care problems in later life. Perhaps the most important step for beautifying your eyes is cleaning them perfectly and regularly. Eye specialists advise you to use various kinds of cleaners. But, before applying them it is necessary to humidify the surface with a moist cotton. This essentially removes dusts, make ups and mascara which otherwise would have been there. Once the area is clean, apply compresses with chamomile infusion on your eyes. The infusion, which gives clarity to your vision, can be easily prepared by mixing a tea spoon of flours in a cup of water. Keep the compresses on your eyes for at least 10 minutes.

Soon your eyes will recover their glow and won't look tired or red. Adequate hydration, usually obtained by using cold creams and special eye contours with nourishing elements, keep the skin around your eyes elastic. Special eye masks for night vision are also helpful for eliminating dark circles and bags.

If problems still persist, don't forget two simple and handy "old since the world" tricks. One, keep a tea spoon in a refrigerator for a few minutes and then put them on your eyes. Another, before going to bed, apply two watery black tea bags on your eyes for about 15 to 20 minutes. Once you try them, you won't disbelieve them.
