Improving Eyesight - 3 Exercises For the Eyes

Some of the main causes for poor eyesight are staring and straining. These are common occurrences that our eyes undergo on a daily basis; usually after a long day at work. Our eyes get tired and need to relax just like our bodies. The constant strain on your eyes daily does nothing but damage the eyes. For improving eyesight, below are three exercises designed to remove eye strain.

1. Dot Exercise:
This is a simple exercise that requires nothing but focusing on a dot located on a page. Stare at the dot until it comes into focus. Usually after just a few seconds, the dot actually becomes less clear and blurry. Now try relaxing your eyes by closing them for a minute. Now try looking at the dot again without straining your eyes. Don't stare at it; instead let your eyes wander around the page glancing frequently over the dot. Your eyes need movement instead of just staring at the object. Make sure that you blink from time to time. Now try closing your eyes and visualizing the dot and then open your eyes and look at it again. Once your eyes are relaxed, it will be much easier to see the dot.

2. Word Exercise:
This exercise is similar to the dot exercise. You want to find a word that contains at least five or more letters. Look at the word so that all the letters are in view, but don't move your eyes. Focus until you get the best image in your head. We've already learned that when you stare and focus hard, it will cause the word to become less clear and blurry. Now try relaxing your eyes and start moving your eyes slowly around and over each letter. Don't forget to blink. Just let your eyes lead you and don't force them. When you look at the word again, it should be clearer. By letting your eyes move around instead of just straining on the word works best.

3. Double Vision Exercise:
The purpose of this exercise is to get your eyes to work collectively as a team. Most people focus one eye to look at an object while the other eye is wandering all around. Although squinting can help bring an object into focus using both eyes, it also causes additional stress. They key is to relax your eyes and calmly focus on the object which will then allow both eyes to focus together.

Improving your eyesight is possible by learning exercises that will help you develop lasting habits. This will only continue to improve your eyesight for years to come.

Adrienne Smith is a work at home business owner and she enjoys helping others find the same success.

Having had poor eyesight herself from many hours of computer work, she was thrilled to learn of these amazing methods that have improved her eyesight. If you would like to learn more about the methods mentioned above, please be sure to visit Vision Without Glasses today.

Safety Tips When Using Contact Lens

Cornea is the clear white part of your eyes. It?is?a?tough, five-layered membrane through which light is admitted to the interior of the eye and help us see things. Incorrect wearing of contact lens may cause your cornea to develop irregular growth of blood vessels that can cause eye complications. Next time you wear lens to protect your eyes, follow these steps to avoid eye problems or complications.

Never Wear Costume Contact Lenses

Some people want to change the color of their eyes, especially for occasions like Halloween parties, etc. Studies shows that colored contacts can harm your eyes, since it reduces the amount of oxygen that is supposed to be reaching the cornea. A reduce of oxygen can cause serious infection to the eyes. If you really want to wear colored contact lens, ask your eye doctor for prescription for these type of contact lenses.

Wear Them When You Should

Follow the suggestions of the manufacturers; never wear your optical lenses longer than the prescribed time of wearing it. Consult your eye doctor for your inquiries regarding the length of time of wearing contact lens for your own safety. And make sure to follow whatever instructions are given to you.

Clean It Properly And Regularly

Proper hygiene is the most important in taking care of your contacts lens to avoid eye complications. Store your lenses in a clean, germ-free place. In cleaning them, use the appropriate lens solution and never use water or saliva to clean it. If the contact lens falls from your eyes, clean it properly before wearing it again. Always bring lens solution with you all the time and wherever you go. Wearing a not properly cleaned contact lens in your eyes can cause serious problems, since it can cause bacteria to enter into your eyes.

Another tip to consider is the provider where you purchase them from. Make sure it is from authorized contact retailer such that they have specific types and solution available for your needs. They often have a huge selection of popular brand names of contact lens so you can optimize its benefits.

Wearing Tips For Contact Lens

Those who are using contact lens for the first time will have a few practical questions regarding the proper way of wearing it and the usage. Here are some tips that will answer your concerns.

The Right Way of Wearing Your Lens

The best way to place your optical lens is by sticking it to one of your fingers to form the cup that will assume the bulge of your eyeballs. Then, hold it directly against the front of your eyes to you can see the side of the cup. If the edges are flaring out, then it means you are doing it the wrong way.

If you are using the aid of a handling tint, use your fingertip to hold the lens. You will find that the tint of the lens' edge is very visible, which isn't the case if the lens is inverted.

Placing Your Contact Lens

Before applying the lens into your eyes, make sure that your hands are properly cleaned. Avoid using products that might adhere to the surface of the lens and could damage your eyes when used.

Before using, you can try to shake the lens case gently to loosen up the lens in case it gets stuck inside. Never attempt to pull it out using your fingers as it can damage the lens. Once loose enough, rest the contact lens in the palm of your hand and rinse it with the lens solution. After that, you can place it on a dry middle or index finger. Use your other hand to gently pull up your eyelid and pull down your lower lid. Look upward so you can properly position the lens. Make sure to place the lens on the white of the eye, nearest your ear. Allow the lens to settle by slightly rolling your eyes and blinking.

Removing Your Contact Lens

As with placing, you must also wash your hands thoroughly before removing your contact lens. Then, look upwards as you would when applying it. Pull down your lower lid so you can gently maneuver your finger inside the eye to remove the lens. Use your index finger to slightly pinch at the lens and lift it off slowly. It is highly recommended that you clip your nails to avoid hurting your eye in the process as you might accidentally hit the white of the eye instead of the contact lens in the process. Basically, it is all just a reversal of the process of applying the lens into the eye.

There are several devices sold for removing contact lens such as "plungers" but it is very easy to do on your own, provided that you properly follow the steps provided.

Strabismus Treatment - Exercises For Lazy Eye Or Cross-Eyed

We have a variety of poor eye conditions nowadays. Some of them which are popular include long sightedness, short sightedness, astigmatism and the rest of others. These three which I mentioned not long are the most popular ones, but we also have strabismus. It is simply a kind of eye problem. It is usually referred to as cross-eyes or lazy. The good part of strabismus is that you can treat it without the need to put on artificial glasses. And the fact is that this method of treating strabismus is through natural means.

In addition, in order to explain strabismus in a more understandable way, strabismus is when your two eyes do not have the ability to focus on a particular thing. In order to be able to view object clearly, the two of your eyes are required to focus on the stuffs. This method needs much of mental concentration and you can also stress your eye if you attempt too hard. Your two eyes are required to function jointly to sight the distance rightly and see the object simultaneously.

Once you lose focus when trying to do this, your eyes will act the other way round. One of your eyes will be concentrating while the other way will be turned on its own chosen way and resisting to focus the way you want it to focus. The reason why it is called cross-eyed is because one eye is able to concentrate and the other is twisted down or a bit down or up. Lazy eye simply means the ability of one of your eyes to reach up to the other one usually taking a longer time.

During the time you are encountering stress, your eye muscles will tense up and turned out being strained. If your eye muscles become excessively tensed, it will result to the eye forcing the other one to the point that will make it uncomfortable, usually to the wrong direction. At times strabismus occurs as an unconscious problem. Things troubling the feelings and thoughts inside of you may result to the other of your eye looking the other way round. This will make the left eye to become the feeling section while your right eye will become the thinking section. Based on the eye that is the lazy one, it will be easy for you to straighten out the inner struggle.

Grow ups that have strabismus at times sufferers from the symptoms of ADHD. These sets of persons find it difficult to be stable and struggle to get attention between two people. These thought patterns will make the sufferer to get out of control which will make the problem worse.

One of the methods to tackle strabismus condition is to calm down. Find out what the inner struggle is and apply measures to establish peace. Relax and make out time for yourself. Eye exercises can also be effective for tackling cross-eyed problems.

Buying Guidelines For Purchasing Contact Lens Online

Opting to purchase contact lenses online has made it convenient for customers. But there are certain drawbacks too, which requires you to pay close attention to ensure that you have chosen the best possible option. The most important consideration you need to make is that you have opted that buying contact lens online is a better option than the usual merchants or optical stores.

Since there are a lot of optical store options online, you need to be picky when deciding from which to buy. Do not be deceived by the impressive website design. The most important thing to consider is the reputation of the seller. There are large trading companies or back-room operations to choose from. So, you need to decide which of these two are more capable of providing quality selection of contact lenses and excellent service. Small operators, for instance, have no inventory available for you to choose from and only request for supply from their manufacturer once you have decided to place your order.

Online contact lens shopping sites prove beneficial when it comes to this aspect. They conveniently provide consumers with price comparison from different sellers, which saves you both time and effort. Some even provide direct links to sellers with the corresponding brand name.

One downside to these websites is that it might not be able to provide a complete listing of available sellers and may not be too updated on their price listings, as opposed to the prices available at the seller's website. It does prove advantageous though in terms of introducing you to other contact lens sellers that you previously did not know about. There are also corresponding short reviews for each product to give you an idea on the quality, specifications, and affordability of a particular product in comparison to other products.

If you decide to purchase contact lens directly from sellers, you need to evaluate them using different criteria. First, the size of the seller matters. The larger the seller is, the more stock of lenses they have available for you to choose from. And so, when you place a specific order, they could easily ship it to you so you can use it as soon as possible. Another important factor to look into is the reputation of the company.

Large contact lens sellers prove stability in the business, which also reflects their ability to provide quality service and products. Therefore, your transaction is secure and that you have means to easily contact them in case any problem arises in the future.

The Best Eye Treatments

Modern medical research has made a variety of new treatments, procedures, and implements that are more convenient and are less invasive. In the area of eye treatments, the latest developments in vision correction involve the use of contact lenses that are made of improved materials and the use of special contact lenses to reshape the cornea. These are two of the best eye treatments available in the market today that do not involve any form of surgery. These two are the less expensive alternatives that most patients consider in place of lasik surgery. Vision correction for these two eye treatments vary and any one of these two non-invasive treatments may be prescribed depending on your eye specialist's recommendations.

Day and night contacts or extended wear contacts are prescribed as corrective implements for those who do not have adverse reactions to wearing contacts for long periods of time. The vision correction is done through the refocussing of light rays to the retina. These contacts are worn on the cornea. Made of silicone hydrogel material, day and night contacts provide better breathability for the eyes as well as lesser eye irritation problems due to poor hydration. Patients who are cleared for long-term contact lens use would benefit well from using day and night contacts which could be worn for 30 successive days. These types of lenses have been approved by the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) in 1999.

Years after, in 2002, the use of orthokeratology contact lenses for vision correction was likewise approved by the FDA. Orthokeratology makes use of specially designed contact lenses to reshape the surface of the cornea. Medical research into orthokeratology showed that ephithileal cells in the cornea's surface are pushed off or relocated by the contact lens' curvature. These lenses are made of oxygen premeable materials and are designed for night time use only. Only a few manufacturers have FDA approved designs of these orthokeratology contact lenses. There are, however, softwares that are available to help doctors who are trained in orthokeratology principles customize a set of orthokeratology contact lenses for particular patients. Studies continue to be done to validate the effectivity of orthokeratology in treating myopia. These types of contact lenses are recommended for those who do not wish to go through corrective eye surgery or those who do not wish to wear contacts or eyeglasses during the day.

Both of these eye treatments have downsides to them. The best way for you be safe is to consult your eye care professional. Make sure that you follow all the instructions for using the particular eye treatment product that you are prescribed with. A lot of the side effects that patients experience with these two implements involve improper usage of the implements and poor eye care practices. Both day and night contact lenses and orthokeratology contact lenses could cause blindness when used without the right care. Any unusual sensations or visions when using any one of these products should warrant a visit to your eye care professional. The sooner any side effects are detected, the easier it is to remedy or avert.

Are You Entitled to a Free Eye Test?

Your sight is one of the most important things you possess, which is why it's crucial that you do everything you can to look after your eyes. Like going to the dentist, you should also regularly have check-ups for your eyes because you never know when a problem might arise that could've been prevented had it been caught earlier in its development.

In the UK, the National Health Service (NHS) provides free eye tests to many people that qualify under a list of requirements. Even if you do not qualify and have to pay for your eye tests, it is still worth having one.

However, we all know how much more appealing it is to undertake something if it's free, which is why it's so good that the NHS provides free tests for many people. In Scotland, eye tests are free for everybody courtesy of the NHS, meaning there is no excuse not to have your eyes tested if you live north of the border.

In England, children aged 16 and under all qualify for free eye tests, and this age extends to 18 if the individual is still in full time education. On the other end of the scale, free eye tests are available to anybody older than 60, which is useful as it is around this age that eyesight can weaken significantly and it is imperative to discover any problems that could affect us badly in later life.

If you are on certain benefits, you can also receive a free eye test, as can your parents - and so can those who are affected by diabetes or glaucoma. If you are immediately related to someone who has glaucoma - the child, brother or sister - then you can also receive free eye tests once you have reached the age of 40.

In addition to the above, anybody who has an exemption certificate (HC2) can receive free eye tests, as can their partners.

Finally, if you need certain complex contact lenses, you are eligible to receive free eye tests and should do so regularly to ensure that your eyesight is always being treated with the correct strength of lens to avoid further damage and allow you the freedom of better sight.

If you undergo an eye test, you may be told that you need glasses. The NHS can help with this, again if you qualify, so it's worth finding out if this is the case.

Our sight is important and must be looked after so, if you fall under any of the groups above, a free eye test may help diagnose problems that have yet to fully develop meaning that your eyesight will be better in the future.

The Bates theory is a popular concept that gives people an effective method and technique on how to improve eyesight. It has been used for a couple of years now and a lot of people have improve eyesight naturally be following the Bate theory on how to get better vision in a natural way.

Bates theory studied about the causes and possible natural treatment for blurred eyesight. These include eye issues such as astigmatism, myopia and hyperopia. Dr. Bates concluded that the common cause of eye problems is tensed muscles. Tensed eye muscles that tend to elongate the eye can cause nearsightedness while tensed eye muscles that tend to flatten the eye can cause farsightedness. Given this fact, there are a number of eye exercises that are made in the objective of keeping the eye muscles relaxed and thus keep in its natural spherical shape.

One of the major causes of eye problems is staring. This can cause eye strain. You can relax your eye muscles by "sweeping out" your vision. You can stand with your feet apart and let your arms fall at your side. Relax your jaw, muscles and facial area and have your eyes look straight ahead. Begin twisting your upper body to the left and your head/ eyes turning to the left. You can lift your heel as you twist and then have your eyes smoothly sweep to the left. Rotate your body to the center and then to the right. Then have your eyes sweep smoothly from left to right. Do this rotation and eye sweeping for 50 cycles.

This is just one eye exercise that you can use. There are a lot of other eye exercises that you can use to improve eyesight naturally. You can get more exercises recommended by Dr. Bates on the Internet.

Lasik Eye Surgery - The Operation

The day was bright and warm, like any other day in Dubai. Oh, I forgot to mention that the doctor requested for me to buy sun glasses that covered most of my eyes, meaning that I had to have the sides covered too due to the extreme brightness outside. So we went in to the hospital and met the assistant nurse first and she asked me to follow her to the same prep room I went to before. This time she asked me to take off my clothes (not what you are thinking) and put on the scrub. Hygiene of an essence and they did not want to get any infection into the Lasik Surgery room and specially my eyes! It took around forty minutes to prepare me. They also dropped anesthetics drops into my eyes few time while I waited. I was not allowed to open my eyes while I lied there waiting.

The nurse then came in and told me that the doctor is ready. She helped me out of the room and into the room where the Lasik machine was. I was then allowed to open my eyes as we were in a clean room. Another pointer for you, they never tell you that you will have to lie under a massive white machine hanging off the side that looks like it weighs more than a ton! Yes they did lay me under it and to make things worse the entire thing started moving down closer towards me and my face! I was trapped in between the surgical bed and the Lasik machine inches above my head. Claustrophobia kicked in and it came hard. I almost aborted to whole thing! Luckily I didn't and went on with it. Once everything was in place, the doctor dropped few of the anesthetics again, and he kept doing it every few minutes.

At the corner of my eye I noticed that a scissors looking device in his hand and wanted to look to the side but couldn't. What it turned out to be was a clip that keeps my eyes wide open all throughout the procedure. Imagine not being able to close your eyes for more than fifteen minutes. I must admit it was scary at first but that soon goes away when you find out that he now wanted to place s suction unit literally on my eye to keep it in place for the laser to do its job. Yep he not only had to touch and slice my eye, it had to be sucked into a machine. I know I'm dramatizing it a bit, but the truth is this is how it feels like while you are in the middle of. Don't get me wrong, the Lasik Eye Surgery was the best thing I have ever done, it is a life changer. The was able to place the unit on my eye, slicing the cornea open. Then suddenly a loud noise came out of the machine and the laser beamed into my eye within a minute he was done. by the way, be aware of the flesh burning smell, lovely! The doctor then said "Great we are done, now the other eye". You can imagine my excitement.

Once all was done I was then lead out of the operation room with cotton patches on my eyes. The actual Lasik Eye Surgery lasted around twenty minutes.

Ways to Improve Your Eyesight - With Exercises

One of the best ways to improve your eyesight and improve your eye health is to simply relax - relax your body, relax your mind, and relax your eyes and eye muscles. Best times to try to relax your eyes are first thing in the morning when you wake up, and at night just before you fall sleep in bed. Keep your eyes closed, and try covering your eyes up with a blanket to increase the darkness - the darker it is, the more relaxed you will be. Think pleasant thoughts, and picture pleasant scenery or things that you like. This helps you relax your mind and relax your eyes.

Concentrate on relaxing your eyes. You'll immediately feel more relaxed overall - relax your eyes, eye muscles, and the muscles around your eyes. You will feel less tense, and feel more calm when you relax your eyes. Also try taking deep breathes. There are also various exercises that you can do to help you improve your eyesight. When performing eye exercises you should take off your glasses.

Start by limiting your use of your eyeglasses or contact lenses. Only use them when they're absolutely necessary, such as for reading or for doing essential work, and driving. Glasses and contact lenses are crutches, and if you keep on wearing them, you will not be able to improve your eyesight. You can try using pinhole glasses, which are made from an opaque sheet of plastic lined with pinhole sized openings. These tiny holes on the glasses allow a narrow beam of light to enter the eye, which reduces the circle of confusion on the retina, resulting in clearer images. Using Pinhole glasses can help improve your vision while you are using them, reducing your dependence on corrective lenses.

Avoid squinting your eyes to try to focus better. Squinting your eyes places additional strain on your eyes, and this is something you want to avoid. Remember to blink often and keep your eyes moisturized. A dry and irritated eye does nothing to help your eyesight, and only further increases the strain and stress on your eyes.

The next time you find yourself staring and fixating on your computer screen for too long, remember to take a little time off and relax your eyes. Take away your focus from the monitor and look outside your window; try doing a short period of palming; or simply close your eyes and picture pleasant things.

How to Improve Your Eyesight Without Glasses

There are a number of different things that you can do to help improve your eyesight without glasses. For many people, their eyesight is excellent until the time they start school, and by the time they are in their teens and as a young adult, their visions have worsened. Vision problems are very common in today's society. Your eyes are like any other organ in your body - if it becomes stressed and over strained, it ability to see are diminished.

I'm sure if you spend a lot of your time reading, or staring at a computer screen, you've no doubt experienced times where after a long and stressful periods of focusing on reading or fixating on the computer screen that you find your eyes are tired and that your eyesight seems to be a bit worse than normal. After some rest and relaxation, you'll eventually find that your eyesight is back to normal. This is a rather common thing that many people will experience.

During times like these, you need take a little time off, just a few minutes, to relax and rest your eyes. Take your focus and eyesight off from your work, and look outside your window far off into the distance. You should also spend several minutes to do some eye exercises such as palming, eye rotation exercises, and eye focus exercises. These all work to help relief stress and strain on your eyes.

While correct lenses such as eyeglasses and contact lenses help you see better, they never actually help you improve your natural eyesight. Most people start off with just slight degrees of eye vision problems, but as they rely on their glasses and contact to help them see, they never really correct the problems that caused them to have bad eyesight in the first place. For a normal person, your eyesight can fluctuate from day to day, even if you might not notice it. If you're in good health, in a good mood, and are relaxed, you might find that you can see slightly better than normal. On the other hand, if you are stressed out, in poor health you'll probably notice that your vision is slightly worse than normal.

You can help improve your eye health by regularly relaxing your eyes. Your eyes are made up of tiny internal and external muscles, and these muscles help move your eyes, help you focus, and can control the shape of your eye. The key to improve eyesight and eye health is relaxation. Take a little time out of your busy workday and work on relaxing your eyes and your eye muscles.

Eye Health Problems Averted With This

Some very well designed and rigorous Australian research has found that to avoid eye health problems as you get older you'll want to be eating lots of fish, olive oil and nuts, while avoiding those tasty (but troublesome) trans fats.

What these foods all have in common is they contain healthy fats, and these are thought to reduce the risk for age related macular degeneration, known as AMD.

The University of Sydney researchers found those who ate a serving of fish each week were 31% less likely to develop early AMD than those who didn't eat fish.

A few servings of nuts per week cut the AMD risk by 35%.

A second team from the University of Melbourne found that those who consumed the most omaga-3 fatty acids were at 15% lower risk of the early stage of AMD. Those who ate at least 100 milliliters (7 tablespoons) of olive oil per week were about half as likely to develop late AMD as those who took in less than 1 mL each week.

Another important finding that came out of the Melbourne work was the role of trans fats.

Subjects who ate Trans fats regularly were 1.76 times more likely to develop late AMD during the follow up period of the study.

This isn't the first study to suggest that omega-3 fatty acids might help to safeguard vision.

Researchers from places as far flung as Iceland and the Netherlands, as well as U.S. scientist Paul SanGiovanni with the National Eye Institute in Maryland seem to agree that omega-3 fatty acids have an impact on AMD. He believes that the healthy fats might help protect against this age related eye disease by fighting inflammation.

When you understand the mechanics of the eye, it makes sense that omega-3 fatty acids would be helpful.

Both nervous tissue and the retina have high levels of these fatty acids, especially a very beneficial one called DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).

Moving beyond the observational work that's been done to date, San Giovanni has a clinical trial underway where subjects take omega-3 fatty acids, another compound or a placebo. Unfortunately, the results of this work won't be available for another four years.

If you're worried about AMD, or you have risk factors, what should you do?

"I recommend to my patients that they consume a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids and fish, especially salmon, sardines and mackerel, as well as nuts and green, leafy vegetables," says Johanna Seddon, M.D. ScM, of the New England Eye Center and Tufts University School of Medicine. "Those not able to consume these foods should consider taking supplements containing fish oil or lutein."

AMD is the top cause of blindness in those 65 and older. The only risk factors experts can point to for sure are a person's age, genetics, obesity and smoking history.

This disease slowly, almost imperceptibly and without pain destroys sharp central vision, the vision you need to see things clearly, as well as for daily tasks like reading, watching TV, recognizing faces and driving.

There are two forms of AMD, wet and the more common dry and the type determines the treatment used to preserve your sight.

Recent estimates suggest that 1.75 million people have advanced AMD, and another 7.3 million remain in the early stages of the disease. Right now, treatment for AMD is limited to the latter stages.

If you're concerned about AMD, or other eye health problems (like blurred vision) in your sight, visit your "eye doctor" at once.

Bifocal Reading Glasses For Better Reading!

Do you already need to use spectacles for activities such as reading? At some point in life, reading newspapers and books becomes difficult for some people. While reading glasses may be an option for some, they may not quite work for you in case you already wear glasses for distance vision. It could be taxing, for example, if you had to swap your glasses all the time. The perfect answer to this common problem is simple and effective-bifocals.

Bifocals were invented by the American statesman Benjamin Franklin. Franklin, apparently had two pairs of glasses, and juggling them all the time was particularly inconvenient for someone as busy as him. He came up with a simple solution that was to change the world of optical accessories forever-he just cut the two lenses in half and fitted them one above the other. He combined his two lenses to make a single bifocal lens that would serve the needs of close- as well as distance-vision. This revolutionary idea has seen many mutations, but has survived as a simple and efficient concept that has been indispensable to the optician.

Bifocal lenses are basically a lens with two different specifications for the top and bottom halves. Some of them have a distinct line separating the two. They are called 'Franklin lenses' or 'Executive lenses'. Nowadays, however, models are available which do show the distinctive line and are called progressive lenses.

The lower part of the lens is for reading purposes, while the upper half is for visibility at a distance. This is because most people look down while reading and up while looking into the distance.

Four Designs

There are basically four distinctive designs for bifocal lenses, four different ways of embedding the reading lens in the other lens. One way is the Franklin lens, as discussed above. Some other glasses have a round part on the lower side of the lens. Others have a slanted 'D' shape, or half-moon, while some even go for the 'ribbon' segment which is a rectangular position along the lower half of the lens.

All said and done, you may go in for any kind of bifocals you are comfortable with. But all of them work on the same basic principle-the lower part for reading and the upper part for seeing-and the various models only provide minor differences in visual definition and ease. Bifocals may be a bit uncomfortable to start with, but as you get used to them and know how to look through each lens, you will be able to fully appreciate the benefits of the innovation that is the bifocal.

Bifocals are the best way to get rid of two sets of glasses. But it doesn't mean you have to throw away your old glasses. Just go to an optician with your lenses and tell him to cut them in half so you can make yourself your very own pair of Franklins.

What Makes Color Contacts So Special?

You might know people who wear color contacts (colored contact lenses) and most likely you know what people use them for: to change the color of their eyes. But you still don't really understand what's the point in that, they just change the color of a little part of your already small eyes. No one will notice.. If you thought that way, I'd like to tell you what power color contacts actually do have.

"Will the color contacts really make that much of a difference?" you asked.
What do people usually watch first when they meet a new person? Their eyes.
What do people usually watch when they talk to a person? Their eyes.

You've probably heard at movies, been told or your friend has been told when on a date: "You've beautiful eyes". Yes, some just say that as a cliche flirting attempt, but many really mean when they say that. I, like many others, think a person's two most charming parts are his/her smile and eyes.

I mean don't you just love those eyes that make you feel like they're pulling you deeper and deeper in them and you can't get your eyes off them? Wouldn't you like to have a pair of those eyes yourself? There you have one reason for you to use color contacts.

When you've beautiful eyes your whole appearance will seem much more attractive and brighter. It will also boost up your confidence which will make you again look even more attractive.

I am quite the average looking girl and it was actually quite the problem for me before. I didn't really have much confidence and I was shy to begin with. Especially talking to men was difficult because I thought that they wouldn't be interested in me, but after I got color contacts and noticed how beautiful and shining my eyes had become, my confidence really boosted up. Especially when I often notice people looking my eyes, I can't help but to smile. Of course I know that looking good isn't everything, but for my personality to be able to shine I think that confidence boost of looking and feeling good was very important.

People wear color contacts for different reasons and use different kind of contacts depending on where they will use them. There are those who buy contacts with some special effect or pattern, well generally unnatural looking color contacts. They often wear them at normal/costume parties, with friends, at halloween or maybe at some other event. Those are really fun to use if you want to scare your friends (I mean, won't your friends be surprised when you somehow have vampire eyes) and if you are role playing some character, eyes that fit your character will make you stand out from the rest (if you've read/watched Japanese cartoon series Naruto, you probably know what sharingan is, well those are quite popular when role playing the series).

Those who buy normal color contacts (the natural looking ones) usually use them the same way as many (at least most women) wear make up or buy good looking clothes. It's part of their fashion!

There are also those who'd like to use color contacts, but are afraid because of what people might say. Well they shouldn't be. Like I said before it's just another way to look better and because there are color contacts that are so natural looking, no one will notice. Though, if you change your eye color completely, your friends will probably notice. But if you, no matter what, don't want them to notice, try to wear a color that is close to your original eye color. That way your eyes will still look much more attractive, but they won't notice that you're actually wearing contact lenses.

I've used color contacts for years now and tried various types. At start I used only those that were to close to my original eye color, but about half a year ago when I changed my work place, I started using gray-green colored (my original eye color is brown), because no one there knew me.

So, do you now have a better idea of why so many use color contacts?

If you want to buy or if you are just interested in color contacts visit http://buycolorcontactsonline.blogspot.com/ Then you will find everything you need and have to know to choose the right color contacts for you and where you can buy color contacts without having to pay more than you should.

7 Easy Steps How to Insert and Remove Contact Lenses (Color Contacts and Normal)

You have now bought yourself contact lenses (color contacts or normal, since these steps are the same for both) or maybe you are just checking how this is done beforehand and now you are wondering how to put them on. It's a good that you decided to find out a guide and not just try to put them somehow on because you could hurt your eyes and ruin your new contact lenses. It might feel little scary at first, but if you follow these steps, there should be nothing to worry and this will become easier the more you insert and remove your contacts. Before you start, few things to notice:

- Wash and dry especially your hands and preferably face too to make sure that your contact lenses won't get any dirt because that could hurt your eyes.

- When handling contact lenses, do your best to avoid anything that could have bacteria or other dirt on it

- Try not do this when you're very sleepy (since you most likely do this at mornings and nights when you're naturally sleepy, you could wash your face with cold water to wake you up a little bit) because you could do it badly and accidentally hurt your eyes

Now the actual steps to inserting contact lenses:

1. Put the lens on your index finger open side up, then put a small amount of the solution meant for the contact lenses to the inner side of the contact.

2. Go in front of a mirror. Then turn your head a little bit to the right and keep looking at the mirror (so you're looking on your left side). By looking your right eye in the mirror (actually the eye on the left side when looking at the mirror), the colored area is now in the inner corner of your right eye.

3. Use the index finger of the the hand which the contacts isn't on to pull up your upper eyelid. Then use the middle finger of the where the contact is on to pull lower your lower eyelid to make it easier to insert it.

4. Now put the contact which should be on your index finger to the white area of your eye and then slide it to the colored part (you can at this point look straight at the mirror).

5. Blink couple of times so it feels good. After you blinked, some of that solution you put earlier on the contact should now come out your eye.

Then repeat those steps for your other contact (notice in step 2: do the same, but instead of looking at right, look at left). If it hurts after you put them on, you should take them off and check that they are clean, because even if you were careful, there could have accidentally gone some dirt on them.

After you have inserted the contacts, you probably want to take them off at some point too. Here you should also wash and dry your hands (washing face isn't necessary) to make sure that your eyes won't get any bacterias. Removing them will be much easier and faster to do than inserting them.

6. Use the middle finger of your hand (use the hand which feels easier to use) to pull your lower eyelid lower.

7. Using the same index finger and thumb of the hand (which you are using to pull the lower eyelid lower) to pull out the contact lens. Just press gently your index finger and thumb on the contact (do not press your eyeball) and pull it out.

Then repeat the steps for your other eye. This will become much easier and natural after doing this a few times even if it might now feel little uncomfortable. If you're for some reason feeling irritation on your eyes, you should first wash them with water and if it still continues then you should go visit a doctor. Just remember to keep up your hygiene when doing this!

Check the author's blog about color contacts at http://buycolorcontactsonline.blogspot.com/ She will tell there all you need and have to know about color contacts, like what are the best color contacts for dark eyes, where to buy color contacts safely etc.

Non Prescription Colored Contacts

So you'd like to wear colored contacts, but you don't have or maybe you don't even need a prescription for it. Then it's good for you that they have made it possible to get color contacts just for cosmetic reasons. If you need to have contact lenses that correct your vision (if you have a near-sighted or a far-sighted vision), then you need a prescription for the color contacts to correct your vision correctly. If you have no problems with your vision, then you don't need one. If you do need a prescription, visit an eye doctor to get one. If you aren't sure if you do need, then also visit an eye doctor to make sure.

There are lots of people who wear color contacts just for cosmetic reasons and that is why there is also a non-prescription choice for them. But even if you don't have problems with your sight, I strongly recommend you to visit an eye doctor. There you will check what kind of contact lenses are good for your eye since there are many different types of contact lenses made of different materials. I don't think you want to take a risk to hurt your precious eyes .

There is no difference between colored contacts that you get non-prescription and those that you get with prescription except the fact that the one with prescription corrects your eye vision. You want to be sure which one you buy because if you don't need correcting contact lenses and you got those, it will make your sight blurry and give you an head ache and maybe even make your current vision worse. On the other hand if you buy color contacts without the correct settings, well you can see how it'd be like by just not using any contact lenses or eye glasses (notice that putting on and taking off contacts is much more difficult than eye glasses).

Where can you then get color contacts without prescription? I'd say that in most online stores, you can choose which type to get and in many normal stores they also have the option to choose. Just make sure that they have the type you need. If you aren't sure, at online stores you can contact them and at normal stores it's easy to just ask the staff to make sure. Also you can of course just find an another shop where they clearly tell if you can get the type you need.

What Are and Where to Buy Halloween Color Contacts?

So you want "that something" for Halloween that can make your friends think if you really became a vampire (or whatever you want to look like)? Or maybe you want to scare the old lady living next you? Then you should consider getting yourself a pair of color contacts because changing your eyes is a sure thing that can get people amazed. Using color contacts you can change your eye color to something crazy looking like completely white or red which are good when you want to look like a vampire. There also those that have some special effects and different shapes. You can for example get neon green eyes which will glow when it's dark or contacts with a spider web pattern on it. Notice that since these contacts change your eye color completely, these are also good for those with originally dark eyes.

These crazy looking novelty contacts are usually made only as non-prescription, meaning that they won't have any correcting effect on your vision because they are made just for entertaining purposes. So if you need contact lenses that correct your vision (if you're near-sighted or far-sighted) then you should think if you can manage for a while without any correcting to your vision. Notice though that even if you don't need a prescription to use these novelty contact lenses you are still strongly encouraged to go visit an eye doctor. There you get to know what kind of contacts are good for your eyes since there are many different types made of different materials. Wrong material can harm your eyes and you don't want that.

Where can you get these color contacts with special effects then? You might find them at local stores where they sell normal contact lenses and eye glasses. You can probably find them easier when it's getting close to Halloween. You can also buy them online and usually you can buy them through whole year, but there might be some special Halloween discounts when it's getting close to it. On the other hand it might be harder to get the best looking contacts because there are lots of others who want them too for Halloween so it might actually be better to buy them early.

When deciding what type of freaky contacts to get you should surf around the internet to see what kind of eyes the character you want is often thought to have (for example vampires often have white or red eyes). That way you can get the most out of your character and the most out of Halloween!

Do Bifocal Contacts Come in Colors?

The quick answer to if bifocal contacts come in colors is YES & NO!

If you are looking for regular bifocal or multifocal contact lenses in colors you are out of luck. At the time of writing this article they were not on the market.

That does not mean that they won't be available soon though. Check back here for the latest updates.

If you have astigmatism or presbyopia however you are in luck. Toric contacts, which are a special type of bifocal contact lenses DO come in colors.

Astigmatism is the inability of the cornea to properly focus an image on the retina. The result is blurred vision, headaches and eye strain. A normal cornea is shaped like a soccer ball while an astigmatic eye is shaped like a rugby or American football.

The irregular shape of the astigmatic eye causes different focal points which can result in either myopia (short sightedness), hypermetropia or hyperopia (long sightedness).

So back to the original question Do Bifocal Contacts Come In Colors? The answer is yes if you have astigmatism and toric lenses are the solution for you.

Here are the brands on the market that currently have color toric contacts:

* Freshlook Colorblens Toric (comes in blue, gray, green and honey)

* Durasoft 2 Optifit Toric Colors (comes in blue, gray, green and hazel)

* Durasoft 3 Optifit Toric Colorblends (comes in amethyst, blue, brown, gray, green, honey and turquoise)

Do You Need Reading Glasses While Using Your PC?

It is a proven fact that working on the computer is responsible for damages to eyesight, causing severe headaches, and dry eyes. The cumulative effect of all the eye problems caused by computers is called computer vision syndrome (CVS). Many people who work for hours on the computer complain of having to strain their eyes when working, causing blurred vision and headaches once the computer is switched off.

With occurrences of CVS becoming more and more common, owing to the increase in the number of people who work on the computer, it is necessary to protect your eyes against the permanent damages computers can cause. Computer reading glasses are a step towards minimizing this damage by reducing the glare entering your eyes, and also by blocking the harmful ultraviolet rays. Also, these glasses are an added benefit as they improve your vision too. Moreover, the glasses may be used with or without consulting your eye specialist!

? So, what exactly are computer glasses - Simply said, they are a set of specially made spectacles, which, if worn when you're working on the computer, decreases the strain caused to your eyes. They are very commonly available owing to the fact that they can be used without prescription, thereby increasing the possibility of buying fakes. It's always better to buy this type of eyewear from a recognized eye store, because it's possible that you'll be handed a cheap colored specs instead of the real one.

These glasses aren't heavy ones that weigh you down, rather, they are light, rimless ones made of stainless steel. If you don't wear glasses on a normal basis, you can opt for the glasses that offer a minimum power correction range of +.25, which is the lower limit. The slight power helps to reduce the strain on your eyes by bringing down the focal length to a particular level.
